Posted

If you could make a wish for a deserving friend or family, what would it be?

Well, this holiday season the city of Sumter wants to make that wish come true.

Do you know a family that could use a little help this holiday season or a child who has been extra good this year?

Let the city know how it can help, and one qualified person or family will be drawn at random to have a wish - valued up to $500 - granted.

To enter, fill out an application and drop it in one of the city's Letters to Santa mailboxes located in front of Sumter Opera House, 21 N. Main St., and at Swan Lake Visitors Center, 822 W. Liberty St. Mailed or emailed entries will not be accepted.

Applications - the only form of entry that will be accepted - can be downloaded from sumtersc.gov or picked up from the opera house or the visitors center.

Wishes cannot be cash, gift cards nor store credit and must be something tangible that can be purchased in Sumter. Wishes that will not qualify include: airfare, subscription services, firearms, weapons, illegal drugs, alcohol and tobacco.

Entries will be accepted until 5 p.m. on Dec. 14, 2018.

A winner will be announced before Dec. 24 and will be contacted by email or phone. The winner can choose to remain anonymous, but the prize must be redeemed no later than Jan. 15, 2019.
