Biggers AME Church to host 60th Homecoming Day celebration on Sept. 1
MANNING — Biggers AME Church, 6208 Kingstree Highway, is hosting its 60th Homecoming Day celebration at 2 p.m. Sept. 1. The church is inviting everyone to attend the celebration and enjoy a delicious dinner following the service.

Green Hill Missionary  Baptist Church hosts women’s conference
ALCOLU — The Green Hill Missionary Baptist Church’s Women’s Ministry is hosting its Annual Women’s Conference at 9 a.m. Saturday at Manning United Methodist Church, 17 E. Rigby St. The keynote presenter will be Minister NaTasha Mallett Wilson. A continental breakfast, lunch and afternoon sweet treats will be provided. The conference will culminate during Women’s Day Services on Sunday at the church, 1260 Green Hill Church Road, with Pastor Ella Bugsby as the speaker. The cost of the conference is $20. Conference T-shirts are available for $15. Women ages 18 and over are welcome to attend.

F.A.D. Fest on Aug. 31 will have games, food and more
MANNING — F.A.D. Fest Game Day Community Event will be held from noon to 4 p.m. Aug. 31 at J.K. House of Ribs, 151 Durant Road. The event will feature games, food, music and prizes. Donations of school supplies are being accepted. Children must be registered and in attendance to receive a free food pass and school supplies.

McLeod Hospice offers training for volunteers
McLeod Hospice is offering a new Hospice Volunteering 101 class for persons interested in helping hospice patients and/or assisting the hospice support staff in Clarendon and Sumter counties.
Volunteers play a vital role in McLeod Hospice. They may make deliveries to patients’ homes or provide companionship by visiting patients in their homes. Volunteers may also read a book, sing or provide additional support for the patient’s caregiver(s). A life-limiting illness can be devastating and have far-reaching effects.
The volunteer training program will be held on Wednesday, Aug. 28, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the Volunteer Services Office on the McLeod Health Clarendon campus.
Attendees must register in advance.

Registration for youth sports being held through Aug. 23
MANNING — Registration for the Clarendon County Recreation Department’s youth football, flag football, soccer and volleyball programs will be held through Aug. 23. Registrations will be accepted from 8:30 a.m. to noon and 1 to 3 p.m. Monday through Friday at the Recreation Office, 3057 Raccoon Road. Registrations in Turbeville will be held from 9 a.m. to noon and 4 to 6 p.m. on Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays at Smith Field, 1380 Gamble St.

Annual Family & Friends Day is on Sept. 1 at Historic Ebenezer Baptist Church
MANNING — Historic Ebenezer Baptist Church, 105 Dinkins St., is hosting its Annual Family & Friends Day on Sept. 1 with the Rev. Dr. Shaun Johnson, pastor of St. John Missionary Baptist Church, as the guest speaker. The host pastor, the Rev. Dr. George P. JCMC-Haven of Rest hosts 1st golf tourney at Wyboo course
MANNING — Jordan Crossroads Ministry Center-Haven of Rest is hosting its First Golf Tournament beginning at 10 a.m. Sept. 14 at Players Course at Wyboo, 1560 Players Course Drive.
The tourney will feature captain’s choice four-person teams. The entry fee is $50 with the check-in at 9 a.m. Coffee and a sweet bun will be provided at check-in along with a meal following the tournament.
