Tickets on sale for Back Porch Players on May 11

MANNING - The Back Porch Players of Clarendon County will present "Celebrating Friendship in Story and Song" at 7 p.m. Saturday at Weldon Auditorium, 7 Maple St. Admission is $10 for adults, and children 6 and under will be admitted free.

Tickets are available at The Monkey Grinder, Brunson's Pharmacy and Weldon Auditorium. Tickets will also be available at the door. For more information, call Violet Moody at (803) 316-8001.

Persons interested in homeownership offered information at seminar

MANNING - Persons interested in homeownership are encouraged to attend the free Housing Seminar from 10 a.m. to noon Saturday at The Council on Aging, 206 S. Church St.

The workshop is sponsored by the Clarendon County CDC Housing packager, Pamela Clavon-Brunson, who will share valuable information concerning ownership even if you have credit challenges or other issues.

Clarendon County Historical Society sets Spring Tour for May 16

MANNING - Clarendon County Historical Society's Spring Tour will take place on May 16.

This year, the society and guests will visit the Statehouse, the Robert Mills House and Gardens, the Woodrow Wilson Family Home, the DeBruhl-Marshall House and Gardens and the Big Apple. Everyone will be able to enjoy a picnic lunch at the Carriage House on the grounds of the Robert Mills House. Tickets for the trip are $30 for society members and just $35 for non-members. Because some walking may be required, comfortable shoes are suggested. Please no high heels. The society will leave Manning First Baptist Church's parking lot at 9 a.m. for the trip to Columbia. The arrival time back in Manning is expected to be 6 p.m.

Sons of Confederate Veterans to meet on May 14

MANNING - The Sons of Confederate Veterans' Manning Chapter will hold its next meeting at 7 p.m. on May 14 at the Woodmen of the World Building on Rudy Road. The speaker will be Jack Parker who will be making a presentation about Gen. Francis Marion's Battle at Wyboo Swamp and the Battle at Sampit Bridge. Parker's Guide to the Revolutionary War in South Carolina: Battles, Skirmishes and Murders will be on sale. The guide lists all the Revolutionary War battles that were fought in South Carolina as well as each battles GPS location. Everyone is invited to attend.
