Howard Chapel AME Church hosts Prayer Vigil on May 15

NEW ZION - Howard Chapel AME Church, 6338 Old Manning Road, will be hosting a "Community Enough Is Enough Prayer Vigil at 3 p.m. May 15 at the church.

The Sumter District of the 7th Episcopal District of the African Methodist Episcopal Church and the Sons of Allen are assisting with the event.

Everyone is invited to attend the prayer vigil on combatting gun violence and praying for the nation, the state, the city/county of Sumter. Clarendon County and the surrounding cities, towns, and communities.

Harvin Clarendon County Library Board meets May 15

MANNING - The Harvin Clarendon County Library Board will meet at 4:30 p.m. May 15 at the Clarendon County Administration Building, 411 Sunset Drive.

On the agenda will be a financial report that will include the March 2022 financial statement, a staffing update on vacancies, an amended budget update for fiscal year 2021/2022 and a draft budget for fiscal year for 2022/2023.

Under new business, the board will discuss the library's Synovus Account Funds.

The agenda also includes a report from the librarian, a Friends of the Library report and a board chairman report.

Historic Ebenezer Missionary Baptist Church hosts Blood Drive on May 15

MANNING - Historic Ebenezer Missionary Baptist Church, 105 Dinkins St., will host a Blood Drive from 1-6 p.m. May 15.

Blood donations are at an all time low and the American Red Cross has issued an Emergency Appeal for donations.

Each donor will be entered into a chance to win a travel trailer camper that sleeps eight. Plus, each donor will receive a $10 e-gift card to a merchant of your choice. The chance to win the camper and the e-gift card are courtesy of Suburban Propane.

Each donor will also receive an additional $20 Amazon gift card.

Think Pink Walk, Run, Golf Cart in Pink Sneakers on May 21

MANNING - A Salute to Cancer Think Pink Walk, Run, Golf Cart in Pink Sneakers event will be held from 9-11:30 a.m. on May 21 at the Manning High School rear parking lot, 2155 Paxville Highway.

Tickets are $30 each and include a complete meal and a T-shirt.

Funds from this event will be used to assist local cancer patients with medical financial aid.

Clarendon County Historical Society's Annual Tour on May 26

MANNING - The Clarendon County Historical Society is hosting its annual tour on May 26.

This year the tour will be in Marion, SC. The tour will start with The Grove, where more than 1,000 items original to the home have been returned since 2007. We will have a tour guide to share the history of Marion as well as points of interest as we ride around town. The riding tour will include the statue of Francis Marion, the Courthouse, Bluefield home and Rosewood.

The Historical Society is famous for its picnic lunch! Riders bring their favorite dish and coordinate with Margaret Robertson at (803) 435-8289.

The cost is $35 for Society members and $40 for non-members.

Vintage Camera Fair set for June 25

Vintage Camera Fair indoor/outdoor event will be held from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, June 25, at the center located at 4 Main St., Summerton.

The event will offer a unique opportunity for collectors, professional and amateur vintage gear addicts, as well as area residents, to showcase their antique and vintage cameras, lenses, collectibles, film stocks, retro cameras, paper and images.

Vendors must register before June 1.
