Clarendon County Pilot Club promotes brain safety in schools

MANNING - The Clarendon County Pilot Club visited several Clarendon County schools recently promoting brain safety, a primary focus of their organization.

The club members dress predominately in black and use hand puppets to get their messages across to the students. The members stress the importance of buckling up, wearing a helmet while riding a bicycle, fire safety rules, how to react to bullies, gun safety and many other ways children and adults can protect their brains.

"The Pilot Club cares about you and your brain," said Margaret Robertson, a founding member of the Clarendon County Pilot Club.

The Clarendon County Pilot Club also promotes Alzheimer's awareness and was founded by Robertson's sister, Dottie McFaddin, more than a dozen years ago.
