Clemson Cooperative Extension opens Master Wildlifer series to public

Master Wildlifer is an advanced course designed for land managers, landowners and wildlife enthusiasts who are interested in integrating wildlife considerations into their current land use and management activities.

Practicing land managers will find the course invaluable in highlighting alternative management approaches for wildlife in forest and farm settings.

Special emphasis is placed on wildlife (game species) that currently offer landowners additional sources of income through recreational access fees.

Course participants will obtain the knowledge and necessary tools to enhance habitat for a variety of wildlife species that can be enjoyed by themselves, family and friends and outdoor recreationists.

The 2019 Master Wildlifer series will involve seven sessions.

Jan. 15 - Incorporating Wildlife Practices into Managed Timberlands
Jan. 22 - Wildlife Management in Non-commercial Timberlands
Jan. 29 - The Role of Disturbance in Wildlife Habitat Management
Feb. 5 - Wildlife Plantings: The Complete Story
Feb. 12 - Management of Aquatic Resources
Feb. 19 - Management of Predators and Destructive Wildlife
Feb. 26 - Estate and Financial Considerations for the Forest Landowner

Jan. 15 will kick off the series with the consecutive sessions taking place each Tuesday until Feb. 26.

Speakers will include county extension agents from across the state, as well as specialists from universities and professionals from various fields of work. In addition to the seven sessions, a field tour will be scheduled in the spring (April and May) at the same location.
