DURHAM, N.C. - Peter Burns' bad-hop grounder with one out in the 11th inning scored the go-ahead run and lifted Boston College to a 7-5 victory over Clemson in the Atlantic Coast Conference Baseball Championship on Tuesday at Durham Bulls Athletic Park.

The Eagles improved to 1-0 in the tournament and 30-26 on the season. The Tigers, who were eliminated from ACC championship contention, fell to 0-1 in the tournament and 33-24 on the season.

With two runners on base and one out in the 11th, Burns hit a grounder right at first baseman Chad Fairey, who was unable to field the bad hop, allowing pinch runner Lucas Stalman to score. Dante Baldelli added a run-scoring single to make it 7-5.

Joey Walsh (5-6) pitched the final 3 innings to earn the win, while Carson Spiers (2-5) suffered the loss.

The Tigers face No. 1 seed Louisville on Thursday at 11 a.m. The game will be televised on Fox Sports Southeast.

SAN FRANCISCO - The calendar hasn't hit June, and Atlanta pitcher Mike Soroka is already fielding questions about the All-Star game.

The Braves rookie right-hander had his season delayed by a shoulder injury suffered working out in spring training. There will be plenty of time for All-Star talk, but the way Soroka is pitching a strong case could be made.

Soroka carried a perfect game into the sixth inning, Ronald Acu a Jr. homered twice and Atlanta beat the San Francisco Giants 4-1 on Monday.

Soroka (5-1) struck out seven and allowed one run and two hits in eight innings. The right-hander has allowed one earned run or fewer in all seven starts this season. His earned run average rose from 0.98 to 1.01.

The 21-year-old Soroka retired the first 15 batters with relative ease before Brandon Crawford led off the sixth inning by hitting the first pitch to straightaway center field for a homer.
