Funeral services for Cleo Nixon Anderson will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday at High Hills Missionary Baptist Church with the Rev. Donald Amis, pastor, and the Rev. Charlie Howard officiating.

The public may view from 2 to 5 p.m. today at Palmer Memorial Chapel, Sumter.

Mrs. Anderson will be placed in the church at 10 a.m. on Monday until the hour of service.

Mrs. Anderson, 69, transitioned on Monday, Dec. 10, 2018, at Palmetto Health Tuomey.

Born in Sumter County, she was a daughter of the late David and Cleo Lloyd Nixon. Cleo was educated in the public schools of Sumter County. She was a graduate of Ebenezer High School and did further studies at Central Carolina, Sumter. She was the wife of Joseph Anderson Sr. and to this loving union they were blessed with four children. Cleo was previously employed by Old Remington Arms Chavis in Bridgeport, Connecticut. After returning to Sumter, she was employed by Ace Textile and Vaughan Bassett companies. Cleo was a woman who loved God, her family and friends.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a daughter, two brothers and a sister.

Survivors include her husband, Joseph Anderson Sr.; three sons, Joseph Anderson Jr. of Bridgeport, Michael (Victoria) Anderson of Rembert and Jamie Anderson of the home; one grandson, Michael Anderson of Rembert; five granddaughters, Mikia, Mikayah and Milayah Anderson, all of Rembert, Ashley Anderson of Stratford, Connecticut, and Mariah Anderson of Raleigh, North Carolina; siblings, Deanna Wardlaw of Columbia, Minnie Beatty, Mary Smith and Janie Hardy, all of Sumter; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives.
