Cleo Alfred Peagler, 91, widower of Leah Dorothy "Sug" Benenhaley Peagler, died Sunday, Oct. 20, 2019, at his home.

Born Feb. 13, 1928, in St. Stephen, he was a son of the late Harmon R. Peagler and Hallie Lorena McMakin Peagler. He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War. He was a member of Springbank Baptist Church and retired from civil service at Shaw Air Force Base.

Survivors include three children, Glenn Peagler of Sumter, Barbara Belote of Cochran, Georgia, and David Peagler (Tanya) of Sumter; a son-in-law, Greg Thompson (Amy); six grandchildren, Whitney Rader (Dustin), Kyle Thompson (April), Shannon Rader (Russ), Jennifer Peagler, Jared Thompson and Madison Beasley; five great-grandchildren, Leah Bryant, Walker Bryant, Anniston Thompson, Reid Thompson and Remington Rader; and a nephew, Harmon Kales (Carolyn).

He was preceded in death by a daughter, Kathy Marie Thompson.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday at Springbank Baptist Church with the Rev. Steve Miller officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday at Elmore-Cannon-Stephens Funeral Home and other times at the home of Mr. and Mrs. David Peagler.
