SUMTER ART ASSOCIATION

The Sumter Art Association met Oct. 15 in the Parish Hall of the Church of the Holy Comforter. President Carla Young welcomed members and guests: Kieran Ullrey, Magill Ullery and Martha Melberg.

Patti Sosnowski gave a devotion about abiding in God's love from the book Jesus Lives.

Recording secretary Ginger Barwick read the minutes from the Sept. 17 meeting.

Treasurer Susan Brabham provided the financial report. Attendance chairwoman Kay Fort reported that 46 members and three guests were present at the meeting.

Program chairwoman Debbie Thomas thanked her committee consisting of Lynn Eldridge, Bunni Russell and Jane Watson for their work helping plan the programs for the year.

Exhibits chairwoman Vicki Goodwin reported on cultural events taking place currently and during the fall in Sumter and the surrounding area.

Debbie Thomas introduced the speaker, Kieran Ullrey, a student at Central Carolina Technical College, who has won multiple art awards. She won the state Junior Duck Stamp competition and presented her winning work to the group. Carla thanked Kieran for sharing her talent and love of art.

The meeting was adjourned, and everyone was invited to the refreshment table. Hostess chairwoman was Dotty Lyles with Beth Jackson as co-chairwoman. Committee members were Betty Brogdon, Vicki Goodwin, Betsy Lynch, Katharine Rauch, Mary Garland Roddey, Emily Stroman, Sue Towery, Laurie Townes and Margaret White. Dotty Lyles provided the colorful fall centerpiece.
