CLYDE EUGENE HUDSON

Clyde Eugene Hudson, 80, passed away on Wednesday, July 14, 2021, at Prisma Health Tuomey Hospital.

Born on Aug. 21, 1940, in Sumter County, he was a son of the late Robert Marvin Hudson Sr. and Agnes Estelle Bartlette Hudson. He was a lifelong member of Bethel Baptist Church. Clyde had a master's degree in mathematics. He taught school in Florence County and retired from Sumter School District 2. Following retirement, he enjoyed farming, raising vegetables and cooking for his family. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of the Vietnam era.

Survivors include siblings, James W. Hudson Sr., Esther H. Whitehead and H. Gordon Hudson (Marilyn), all of Sumter, and Thomas R. Hudson (Vicki) of Ponce Inlet, Florida; and a number of nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by sisters, Evelyn Sniecinski and Retha Corine Hudson; and a brother, Robert Marvin Hudson Jr.

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday at Bethel Baptist Church with the Rev. Sammy Geddings officiating. Burial with military honors will be in the church cemetery.

Nephews will serve as pallbearers.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. on Friday at Elmore-Cannon-Stephens Funeral Home and other times at the home of his sister, 302 Aldersgate Drive.
