Clyde "Jack" Parsons Jr., 83, husband of Betty Lucille Barkley Parsons, died on Sunday, June 21, 2020, at Prisma Health Tuomey Hospital.

Born on June 26, 1936, in Big Stone Gap, Virginia, he was a son of the late Clyde Parsons Sr. and Evelyn Gibson Parsons. Mr. Parsons retired from Sumter School District 2 as director of maintenance. He enjoyed spending time outdoors gardening, camping or fishing. He also loved spending time with his family.

Survivors in addition to his wife of 61 years include three sons, Michael Parsons (Patricia) and Jerry Wayne Parsons, both of Sumter, and David Parsons (Lisa) of Manning; seven grandchildren, Ryan Parsons, Matthew Amerson, Joey Amerson, Jessica Parsons, Kevin Parsons (Tracy), Kimberly Blair (Brent Cramer) and Taylor Brooke Parsons; five great-grandchildren, Kinley, Brenley, Londyn, Caleb and Nathan; three brothers, Donnie Parsons (Vickie) and Roger Parsons, both of Yucca Valley, California, and Brent Parsons (Naomi) of Tracy City, Tennessee; and a number of nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his daughter, Linda Amerson and son-in law, Carl Amerson; a granddaughter, Nikki Parsons; two great-granddaughters, Anna Leah and Haylee Grace; one brother, Ronnie Parsons; and one sister, Robbie Oakley.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday in the Elmore-Cannon-Stephens Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Sammy Thompson officiating. Burial will be at Evergreen Memorial Park cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Michael Parsons, David Parsons, Kevin Parsons, Brent Cramer, Keith Oakley and Rocky Floyd.

The family will receive friends from noon to 1 p.m. Wednesday at Elmore-Cannon-Stephens Funeral Home.
