FROM STAFF REPORTS

CNN political analyst and former South Carolina representative Bakari Sellers will visit Morris College on Feb. 11 for a screening of "While I Breathe, I Hope," a documentary about Sellers directed by Orangeburg native Emily Harrold. At 22, Sellers made history in 2006 when he became the youngest member of the South Carolina state legislature and the youngest black state lawmaker in the nation.

The film follows Sellers on his 2014 campaign for lieutenant governor, a position that hasn't been held by a black American since the 1870s. It also follows Sellers through the Charleston Massacre and the removal of the Confederate flag from the Statehouse.

The event, hosted by Morris and the Sumter County Cultural Commission, will be held at 6 p.m. in the Neal-Jones Auditorium at 100 W. College St. Sellers will participate in a post-film discussion.

The event is free and open to the public.
