BALTIMORE, Md. - Columbus Cooper Jr., eldest son of the late Deacons Columbus Sr. and Altomese Isaac Copper, transitioned to his heavenly home on Saturday, Jan. 1, 2022, at Northwest Hospital, Baltimore.

Columbus was born on April 22, 1942, in Sumter County.

He was preceded in death by not only his parents but his wife, Darlene Johnson Cooper, and four of his siblings, Glorianna, Jacqueline, Delaine and James Arthur Cooper.

He leaves to cherish his memories: two children, Patricia Cooper and Beverly Cooper, both of whom reside in Owings Mills, Maryland; eight siblings, Isaac (Mary) Cooper of Gable, Joearal Kennedy of Verona, Pennsylvania, Ferdinand (Elizabeth) Cooper of Fayetteville, North Carolina, Cassandra Cooper of Gable, Hardie (Christine) Cooper of Temple Hills, Maryland, Jessirita (Stanley) Scriven of Gable, Susan (Cleo) Ballard of Gable and John Glenn (Dorothy) Cooper of San Bernardino, California; five grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends.

The celebration of life for Columbus Cooper Jr., most affectionately known as "Scotter," will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday at Vaughn C. Green Randallstown Chapel, 8728 Liberty Road, Randallstown, MD 21133.
