CORA LEE S. PACK

Cora Lee Singleton Pack was born on May 1, 1918, in Sumter County, a daughter of the late Lewis E. Singleton Sr. and Carrie Wilder Singleton. She departed this life on Wednesday, Jan. 9, 2019, at Prisma Health Tuomey.

Mother Cora was educated in the public school system of Sumter County. After her retirement from Sumter School District 2, she became a homemaker, caregiver and pursued her lifelong mission of serving God. Mother Cora began her Christian journey at an early age. She received Christ as her personal savior and was baptized at Enon Baptist Church, where she served as a faithful member for more than 50 years. She was a member of the choir and missionary ministry. She was united in holy matrimony to the late Luley Pack and this union was blessed with 12 children.

Upon turning 100 years old on May 1, 2018, she received special recognition from the city of Sumter, WLTX 19 News in Columbia and was blessed by her grandchildren, who hosted a community-wide celebration in her honor.

Her loving legacy will always be cherished by her 12 loving children, James Pack of Brooklyn, New York, Rosa Bradley, Blanche (Isaac) Bradley, Mae Nickens, Annie Bradley, Willie Mae (Robert) Johnson, Barbara (Freddie) Goodman, Jimmie (Johnny) McMillan and Robert (Helen) Pack, all of Sumter, Gloria (Dennis) Gallashaw and Harry Pack, both of Camden, New Jersey, and Vivian Pack of Atlanta; 37 grandchildren; 75 great-grandchildren; 13 great-great-grandchildren; one sister-in-law, Elouise Scott of Sumter; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and close friends.

She was preceded in death by three brothers, George, Eugene and Lewis Singleton; one sister, Ella Bell Boyd; three sons-in-law, James Nickens, Milton Bradley Sr. and Eugene Bradley Sr.; one daughter-in-law, Joyce Pack; one grandson, Michael Bradley; three brothers-in-law, Robert James, Moise and Samuel Pack; and four sisters-in-law, Loris Simmons, Priscilla Gaymon, Rosa Lee Bolger and Iris P. Singleton.

Public viewing will be held from 2 to 5 p.m. today at Job's Mortuary.

Mother Pack will be placed in the church at noon on Monday for viewing until the hour of service.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. on Monday at Enon Missionary Baptist Church, 2990 Pinewood Road, Sumter, SC 29154 with Pastor Julie Ann Hayes officiating. Interment will follow at Cain Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 1 to 7 p.m. at the home, 2620 Yank Haven Drive, Sumter, SC 29153.
