Cousar celebrates 100 years

Flossie Delores Cousar, of the Shiloh community of Lynchburg, celebrates her 100th birthday today, Sunday, June 16, 2019, with family and friends at Mount Sinai AME Church, Lynchburg.

She is one of 16 children born to the late Sam and Queen Esther Coker Cousar. She is a member of Mount Sinai AME Church, where she has attended faithfully since retiring from teaching.

Flossie received her bachelor's degree from Allen University and her Master of Education from South Carolina State University. She began her teaching career at Johnson High School in the Shiloh community and continued teaching for more than 40 years.
