Shaw Air Force Base announced Wednesday evening a second Team Shaw member has tested positive for the coronavirus.

The person was tested off-base, according to a Facebook post from the base’s account.

“While we are still awaiting official confirmation, the dependent who tested positive is now in isolation, and their spouse was tested today,” the post said.

Sick call has been suspended. Call first at (803) 895-2273 or 1-800-874-2273.

The 20th Fighter Wing is operating under risk-balanced operations. Retirees who do not have appointments or official business on the base are being asked to stay off-post as a temporary measure.

The first case at Shaw that tested positive was announced on Monday, March 23 as being a dependent of an active duty airman. The individual and spouse are in isolation at their off-base residence.

There are a total of 424 confirmed cases in South Carolina, according to the S.C. Department of Health and Environmental Control, including 10 in Sumter.
