Church will host its annual chicken supper

Summerton Southern Methodist Church will host its annual Barbecue Chicken Supper from 4 to 7 p.m. Saturday at Vernon Way Fellowship Hall adjacent to the church at 1107 Felton St. A plate of delicious barbecue and fixin's is just $8.

Individuals interested in purchasing a plate need to call (803) 485-2837 before 3 p.m. Saturday. Individuals and groups who purchased plates in advance and asked for delivery to Manning can pick up their plates at 5 p.m. at Walker Tire, 114 S. Mill St.

Spring Revival will be Tuesday through Friday

St. James AME Church, 2073 Greenall Road in Summerton, will host its Spring Revival 2018 at 7 p.m. Tuesday through Friday.

'Answers in Genesis' is coming up soon

Grace Christian Fellowship Church, 2938 Raccoon Road, across from the National Guard Armory, will host "Answers in Genesis" by James Gardner on Saturday and Sunday, April 14 and 15.

Gardner has extensively taught on the subject of Creation vs. Evolution in the United States and internationally in churches, schools and colleges since 1993. Gardner will be delivering his messages at 5 p.m. and 7 p.m. on April 14 and at 9 a.m., 11 a.m., 5 p.m. and 7 p.m. Everyone is welcome to attend.

Camp will help children understand grief, loss

Camp Jessie's Kids, a day camp for children who have suffered the loss of someone they care deeply about (for example, a special family member, relative or friend) or for those who have someone in their family who is very sick at this time will be held from 9 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. on Saturday, April 28.

The camp is open to children ages 4 through 14. Parents or guardians are asked to accompany children who are 4 to 6 years old.

Camp Jessie's Kids is held to help children learn about grief and understand their feelings, to learn ways to cope with feelings of loss and concern when someone is sick, to talk with other children who are going through a similar experience, to meet new friends and to enjoy a day of fun activities.

The camp is staffed by professionals and trained volunteers who understand the importance of a child's feelings and the grief experience.

Camp Jessie's Kids is free. The camp is funded by generous gifts to the McLeod Health Foundation and donations from local businesses and individuals in the community.

Registration for the camp is required. To register for the camp or for more information, please call Jessie Tanner with McLeod Hospice at (843) 777-2007. The deadline for registration is April 20.

Library will be closed for roof replacement

Harvin Clarendon County Library and the book drop have been closed for the library to have its roof replaced. No overdue fees will be charged during the time the library has been closed. The library will reopen on Monday.
