Clarendon County Master Gardeners Annual Plant Sale is today, Saturday

MANNING - The Clarendon County Master Gardeners Annual Plant Sale will be held today and Saturday in the courtyard at Land, Park and Welch P.A., corner of South Mill and West Keitt streets.

Many heirloom varieties of tomatoes and plants that originated at Thomas Jefferson's home, Monticello, will be on sale along with citrus trees and dozens of flowering plants. Come early for the best selections.

Cancer OverComers, Clarendon sheriff's office to hold 1st OverComers Walk on Saturday

MANNING - The 1st Clarendon County Cancer OverComers Walk will be held from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday at J.C. Britton Park, 3057 Raccoon Road.

The event is being presented by the Clarendon County Cancer OverComers and the Clarendon County Sheriff's Office.

The event will feature an OverComers' Walk, a luminary celebration and lots of free food, fun, games and music.

Registration for OverComer T-shirts and the sale of Walk T-shirts and baseball caps will begin at 9 a.m. If your T-shirt size isn't available, pre-paid shirts and caps can be ordered and available within two weeks. Pre-registered OverComers can pick up their shirts beginning at 9 a.m.

Please bring lawn chairs or blankets for additional seating. Everyone is welcome to attend.

In case of inclement weather, the event will be moved to Clarendon County Community Complex, 10 Maple St., behind Weldon Auditorium.

Health fair at Maranatha SDA Church will include seminars, screenings, demonstrations

MANNING - A Community Health Fair will be held today through Sunday at the Maranatha SDA Church, 314 W. Huggins St. On Saturday, seminars will be held from 9:30 a.m. to 12:40 p.m. Screenings and activities will be held from 12:45 to 5 p.m. A panel and question-and-answer session will be held from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. The closing seminar will be held from 6:40 to 8 p.m. On Sunday, a healthy cooking demonstration will be held from 10 a.m. until noon. The fair will feature prizes, food and fun for all ages.

Tickets on sale in advance, at door for Back Porch Players at Weldon Auditorium on May 11

MANNING - The Back Porch Players of Clarendon County will present "Celebrating Friendship in Story and Song" at 7 p.m. Saturday, May 11, at Weldon Auditorium, 7 Maple St. Admission is $10 for adults, and children 6 and under will be admitted free.

Tickets are available at The Monkey Grinder, Brunson's Pharmacy and Weldon Auditorium. Tickets will also be available at the door. For more information, call Violet Moody at (803) 316-8001.

Persons interested in homeownership offered information at free seminar

MANNING - Persons interested in homeownership are encouraged to attend the free Housing Seminar from 10 a.m. to noon Saturday, May 11, at The Council on Aging, 206 S. Church St.

The workshop is sponsored by the Clarendon County CDC Housing packager, Pamela Clavon-Brunson, who will share valuable information concerning ownership even if you have credit challenges or other issues.
