Memorial Day Services in Clarendon County

MANNING - Memorial Day services will be held throughout Clarendon County at 11 a.m. Monday. In Manning, the services will be held at the Clarendon County Courthouse.

In Turbeville, the Memorial Day Services will be held at the Veterans' Monument and in Summerton at Summerton's Dogwood Park. Everyone is invited to attend.

Animal shelter needs food for small animals

MANNING - A Second Chance Animal Shelter is in need of pet food, including kibbles and wet food for kittens and puppies. No donation is too small. Please drop off your contributions at the shelter, 5079 Alex Harvin Highway.

Literacy Saturday is set for May 25

SUMMERTON - Start your Saturday off with the Harvin Clarendon County Library Bookmobile celebrating storytime, fun crafts and activities. The event will be held from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Clarendon One Community Resource Center, 1154 Fourth St.

Library to close for Memorial Day

MANNING - The Harvin Clarendon County Library, 215 N. Brooks St., will be closed for the Memorial Day holiday on Monday. The library will reopen at 9 a.m. Tuesday. For more information, call the library at (803) 435-8633.

Elizabeth Peyre Richardson Manning NSDAR meets Tuesday

MANNING - The Elizabeth Peyre Richardson Manning Chapter of the National Society of the Daughters of the American Revolution will meet at 5 p.m. May 28 at Manning First Baptist Church at the corner of West Boyce and North Boundary streets.

Camp Happy Days needs your support

SUMMERTON - Camp Happy Days, a week-long residential summer camp for children with cancer and their siblings, will be held again this year from June 30 to July 6 at Camp Bob Cooper on Lake Marion. Camp offers children with cancer a chance to meet and bond with other children facing cancer while enjoying boating, kayaking, a high ropes course, climbing wall and more. All children are under the careful supervision of a qualified medical team, and all programs are free. Financial donations are needed to make this amazing week possible for these deserving children, as well as donations of T-shirts, sunscreen and caps. Camp Happy Days is a nonprofit organization. Interested individuals or businesses are asked to make checks out to Camp Happy Days and send to Bill Ellis, 1358 Sportsman Drive, Manning, SC 29102. Clarendon County Recycling Day is June 22

MANNING - Clarendon County will host an Electronic Recycling event from 9 a.m. until 1 p.m. June 22 at the Clarendon County Administration Building's parking lot, 411 Sunset Drive.

Take all of your old, used electronics for free recycling. Shredding will also be on site; however, no plastic or newspaper can be shredded.
