Farmers Market to open Saturday

MANNING - The Farmers Market at the corner of East Boyce and North Church streets will open tomorrow morning. Vendors will be selling assorted vegetables, plants and other items.

"VBS @ the park" begins June 17

MANNING - Manning's Back to School Bible School will be held from 10 a.m. to noon June 17-19 at Gibbons Street Park. "VBS @ the park" is a partnership between New Covenant Presbyterian Church and Emmanuel Baptist Church. The two churches locked their arms to reach the children of Manning. The focus of the partnership is two-fold: to proclaim the Gospel to children and to serve as a ministry to teach the Bible in the public schools of Clarendon County. sponsors "Just Chill"

MANNING - The City of Manning is sponsoring "Just Chill" at parks throughout the city over the summer at 6 p.m. on the following dates and locations: Memorial Street Park on June 20, Gibbons Street Park on July 9, Bellwood Park on July 23 and 214 E. Huggins St. on July 30. Everyone is invited to enjoy ice cream and Popsicles.

Camp Happy Days needs your support

SUMMERTON - Camp Happy Days, a week-long residential summer camp for children with cancer and their siblings, will be held again this year from June 30 to July 6 at Camp Bob Cooper on Lake Marion. Camp offers children with cancer a chance to meet and bond with other children facing cancer while enjoying boating, kayaking, a high ropes course, climbing wall and more. All children are under the careful supervision of a qualified medical team, and all programs are free. Financial donations are needed to make this amazing week possible for these deserving children, as well as donations of T-shirts, sunscreen and caps. Camp Happy Days is a nonprofit organization. Interested individuals or businesses are asked to make checks out to Camp Happy Days and send to Bill Ellis, 1358 Sportsman Drive, Manning, SC 29102. Clarendon County Recycling Day, June 22

MANNING - Clarendon County will host an Electronic Recycling event from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. June 22 at the Clarendon County Administration Building's parking lot, 411 Sunset Drive.

Take all of your old, used electronics for free recycling. Shredding will also be on site; however, no plastic or newspaper can be shredded.

CSD2 to hold summer feeding program

MANNING - A free morning snack and lunch for all children 18 years and younger will be served Monday-Friday, June 10-28 and July 8-26 (closed July 1-5) at Manning Elementary School, 311 W. Boyce St. Morning snack will be served from 8 to 9 a.m. and lunch from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m.

No registration is required or application needed.

CSD3 to hold summer feeding program

TURBEVILLE - Free breakfast and lunch will be served Monday-Friday, June 10-28, at the Walker Gamble Elementary cafeteria, 2359 Walker Gamble Road, New Zion. Breakfast will be served from 8 to 8:30 a.m., and lunch will be served from 11 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. From June 10-July 18, breakfast only will be served from 9:45 a.m. to 10:15 a.m. at East Clarendon Middle/High School cafeteria, 1101 Pope St., Turbeville. Children under the age of 18 will be served, and all food must be eaten on site.

Clarendon CDC seeking applications for home repairs

MANNING - The Clarendon County Community Development Corp., 625 Spencer St., is now accepting applications for home repairs of roofs, HVAC units and handicapped ramps ONLY. No outside applications will be accepted. Applicants must own the home, and if it is a mobile home, it cannot be more than 30 years old. The land must also be in the applicant's name. All applicants must meet the income requirements as mandated by the South Carolina Housing Finance and Development Authority.

The CCCDC is also interviewing contractors beginning June 17 for at least three contracting positions. All interested contractors must be licensed, bonded, insured and have Worker's Compensation.
