CURTIS EUGENE JONES

Curtis Eugene Jones, age 79, beloved husband of 60 years to Shirley Ruth Moreash Jones, died on Wednesday, Nov. 13, 2019, at his residence.

Born in Winston, North Carolina, he was a son of the late Horace and Ola Mae Bryant Jones. After his graduation from high school, Curtis joined the United States Marine Corps and served for 10 years. He separated from the Marine Corps in February 1968 and then joined the United States Air Force in March. He served an additional 10 years in the Air Force and retired with more than 20 years of total service. After his retirement from service, Curtis went to work with Dorado Services as a Civil Service employee at Fort Jackson and served for several more years. He enjoyed both hunting and fishing in his spare time. His true joy in life came from spending time with his family. He will be remembered as a very loving husband, father, grandfather and friend. He will be dearly missed by all who knew him.

In addition to his wife Shirley he is survived by four daughters, Tonya Fort, Tang'y Jones, Nicole Jones and Cassy Jones, all of Sumter; a brother, Clay Wiley of Arkansas; and six grandchildren, Curtis Ray, Alex Williams, Robbie Suggs, Christopher Fort, Nicolette Merrifield and Trinton Tedder.

Curtis was predeceased by a daughter, Tammy Williams.

A funeral service will be held at noon on Saturday in the Bullock Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Tommy McDonald officiating.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service from 11 a.m. to noon on Saturday at Bullock Funeral Home.
