South Carolina Highway Patrol seeks help identifying suspect in hit-and-run of Dalzell man

The South Carolina Highway Patrol is seeking information about a hit-and-run incident that killed a 59-year-old Dalzell Man on Monday.
Patrick Drake was pronounced dead on scene after being found by a passerby on Tuesday about 10:45 a.m., according to Sumter County Coroner Robbie Baker. He was riding his bicycle on Charles Jackson Street when it appears he was struck by a vehicle, ejecting him from the bicycle.
According to South Carolina Highway Patrol Lance Cpl. David Jones, the incident occurred at about 10:45 p.m. Monday. Drake was cycling southbound in the northbound lane when what was believed to be a Ford F150 Raptor traveling north struck him and continued north towards U.S. 521.
Jones said the color of the vehicle was unknown, but there is possible damage to the driver side headlight.
Next of kin has been notified, and an autopsy will be performed today at the Medical University of South Carolina in Charleston.
The South Carolina Highway Patrol, the Multi-disciplinary Accident Investigation Team and the Sumter County Coroner’s Office is investigating.
