Dalzell-Shaw Post 175 holding tryouts Monday at TSA

The Dalzell-Shaw Post 175 American Legion baseball team will have tryouts for the upcoming season beginning on Monday at 5 p.m. at Thomas Sumter Academy's General Field.

The tryouts are open to players ages 13-19 with the birth years of 2000 to 2006.

The Jets will play their season opener against Sumter on May 28 at Riley Park.

MANNING - Wilson Hall's varsity softball team improved to 6-1 in SCISA Region III-3A with a 3-1 victory over Laurence Manning Academy on Monday at Julie Skolar Field.

Andi Grae Wingate got the win in the circle, going the distance and striking out two. She was also 2-for-3 with a run-scoring double and a run scored.

Ellie Stone had an RBI single, and Carly Allred scored a run.

RandiLynn Holcombe had two doubles to lead LMA. Bailey Moore had a double, and Madison Rainwater had a hit and an RBI.

Calhoun 2

BISHOPVILLE - Robert E. Lee Academy defeated Calhoun Academy 5-2 in the opening game of their best-of-3 SCISA 2A semifinal playoff series on Monday at the REL field.

Keaton Price had two hits and an RBI for the Cavaliers, who improved to 22-3 on the season. Dustin Kennedy had a double and an RBI, and Drew Watson had two hits.

Austin Windham worked 6 innings to get the win. He allowed just one hit while striking out eight and walking three.

Gray Collegiate 5

East Clarendon 1

East Clarendon High School's baseball team saw its season come to an end with a 5-1 loss to Gray Collegiate on Monday in an elimination game in the 2A lower state playoffs.

Ashton Mixon had the lone hit for the Wolverines.

East Clarendon 3

ANDREWS - East Clarendon High School's softball team lost to Andrews 4-3 in eight innings on Monday in a winners bracket game in the 2A lower state tournament at the AHS field.

Kinsley Driggers was 2-for-4 with two RBI for the Lady Wolverines. Katie Lee had two hits, and Elly Floyd had a double.

EC will play at Latta today at 6 p.m. in an elimination game.
