Daniel D. Rogerson Sr., 97, of Florence, passed away on Tuesday, Jan. 9, 2018, at McLeod Hospice House.
He was born in Andrews, a son of the late Lester Porter Rogerson and John Edward Rogerson Sr.
He was predeceased by his wife of 72 years, Virginia Cummings Rogerson; a son, Daniel D. Rogerson Jr.; two grandsons, Daniel D. "Dano" Rogerson III and Neil McQueen Rogerson; a brother, John Edward Rogerson Jr.; and two sisters, Claire Doby and Carolyn Rogerson.
He was a member of our country's greatest generation, having served as a Marine during World War II. Mr. Rogerson was a dental technician for more than 50 years, having been affiliated with Sexton-Shealy Dental Clinic in his earlier career and various other dental clinics throughout the state. He was a member of All Saints Episcopal Church.
He is survived by a son, Wesley Jonathan Rogerson Sr. of Florence; two daughters, Jeannine Rogerson Clemens of Charleston and Carolyn Rogerson Holcombe of Florence; three grandchildren, David Hugh Lyon, Ginny (Chris) Inabinet and Wesley Jonathan Rogerson Jr.; and three great-grandsons, Cal, Tanner and Hampton Inabinet.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday at All Saints Episcopal Church led by Father Jason Hamshaw and Father Dick Archer.
Graveside services directed by Cain Calcutt-Stephens Funeral Home will be held at 2 p.m. on Tuesday at the Florence National Cemetery.
