WEDGEFIELD — Davis R. Goodman Jr., 65, affectionately known as "Shot," and husband to Betsi Baker Goodman, passed from this life to his eternal home on Thursday, July 16, 2020.

Born on June 4, 1955, in Sumter, he was a son of the late Davis Reginald "Reggie" Goodman Sr. and Jho Ann Holladay Goodman.  He was a member of Wedgefield Baptist Church.  He served in the United States Navy on the USS. Mount Baker.  Shot loved the Lord and had a phone ministry texting scripture daily to about 100 people.  He was an avid fisherman and hunter.  He loved gardening, the outdoors and cooking.  He found great joy riding his motorcycles and helping with anything at his church.  He was the grandson of the late S.P. and Marie Holladay, and the late Loranza Dow and Mattie Powell Goodman of Wedgefield.

He is survived by his wife; children, Carla Goodman (Ben Perry), Davy Goodman (Emily) and Daniel Goodman; stepchildren, Will and Addison Mosier; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Johnny and Toni Baker; sisters, Patricia Ann Huggins (Gene) and Margaret E. Hill (Dale), brother-in-law, John Baker (Renee); grandchildren, Michael Brian Carlton, Kaiden Paul Owens, Chasden Davis Owens, Morgan Reese Goodman and Colton Davis Goodman; nieces and nephews, Crystal Prescott (Kevin), Melissa Mize, Brittany Daughrity (Chad), Taylor Hill, Dale Hill II (Bridgett) and Chad Gregg; and great-nieces and great-nephews, Luke Rivers Daughrity, Abigail Burrows, Brooke McIntosh, Megan Truluck (Ryan) and Chad Baker.

He was preceded in death by an infant sister, Martha Marie Goodman of Wedgefield.

A funeral service will be held at 5 p.m Tuesday at Wedgefield Baptist Church with Pastor Paul Goff and Bubba Benenhaley officiating.

The family will receive friends from 3 to 5 p.m. Tuesday at Wedgefield Baptist Church and other times at the home.

Honorary pallbearers will be John Baker, Joe Wisman, Brandon Ardis, Mike Ardis, Taylor Ardis, Gene Huggins, Jordan Olson, Junior Boone and Jay Bird Tedder.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Wedgefield Gospel Mission for Children, P.O. Box 265, Wedgefield, SC 29168.

Elmore-Cannon-Stephens Funeral Home and Crematorium of Sumter is in charge of the arrangements.
