Davis-Smiling

Eva M. Smith of Dillon announces the engagement of her daughter, Eva Smith Davis of Dillon, to Lodie C. Smiling Jr. of Raleigh, North Carolina, son of Gloria Jean Smiling of Florence and the late Lodie C. Smiling Sr.

The bride-elect is also the daughter of the late Curtis Smith of Dillon and the granddaughter of Chalmus and Nancy McLeod Smith of Rowland, North Carolina, and Ollie P. Manning and Orilla McCallum of Tabor City, North Carolina. She graduated from Claflin University, Florence Darlington Technical College and Hood Theological Seminary. She is employed by Nightingales Nurses and Attendants and BB&J Services.

The bridegroom-elect is the grandson of Lodie Joe and Sadie Davis Smiling of Sumter and John Wilkes and Rose Lee Breeden of Dillon. He graduated from Florence Darlington Technical College and is employed by Cast Iron Elegance Inc. in Raleigh, North Carolina.

The wedding is planned for Oct. 9, 2021, at St. Matthew AME Church in Hamer.
