DEBRA ARD GEDDINGS (SHIRER)

Debra Ard Geddings (Shirer), 64, wife of James V. "Jimmy" Shirer, died on Tuesday, Sept. 15, 2020, at her home.

Born on Sept. 30, 1955, in Sumter, she was a daughter of the late Johnny Edward Ard and Charlie and Helen Hatchell Geddings. Mrs. Geddings was a member of Green Acres Assembly of God. She received her nursing certificate from the Tuomey School of Nursing and retired from Clarendon Memorial Hospital. She enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and her special dogs.

Survivors include her husband of 15 years; two children, Brandy Brady (James) of Sumter and Jason C. Geddings (Samantha) of Columbia; three stepchildren, Cristy Shirer of Atlanta, Jamey Shirer of Elloree and Dora Grubbs (Bill) of Barnwell; 12 grandchildren; one great-grandson, Sawyer James Miles; four sisters, Brenda Greene, Kathy Thompson (Frank), Tammy Lowder (Henry) and Denise Rickett (Raymond), all of Sumter; one brother, Jay Sims of Oneida, New York; a special aunt and uncle, Joyce and Rich Robbins of Columbia; a special uncle, Ricky Lowery of Alcolu; a special friend, Melanie Pack of Sumter; and a number of nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by a brother, Pete Ard.

The family would like to express their appreciation to Deanna McElveen, Annette Johnson and other staff of Amedisys Hospice, along with special friends, Tammy Hipp and Renee Davis, for the exceptional care and attention they provided during Mrs. Geddings' illness. They would also like to thank the Rev. Michael Bowman for ministering to them in this time.

Memorials may be sent to Green Acres Assembly of God, in honor of the Rev. Michael Bowman, 537 Lewis Road, Sumter, SC 29154.

Services will be held at a later date.
