A memorial service for Diane Marie Welch will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday at First United Pentecostal Church,14 Plowden Mill Road, Sumter, with Pastor Theron D. Smith officiating.

Diane was called to eternal rest on Saturday, March 30, 2019, at her residence in Dalzell.

Born in Utica, New York, she was a daughter of the late Robert Patrick Bristol and Betty Jane Bristol. Diane was a graduate of Chadwicks High School Class of 1976 and, thereafter, enlisted in the United States Air Force. On a tour to Spain, she met Frederick Welch, who was also serving in the Air Force. They were united in holy matrimony and to this loving union two daughters were born, Keesha and Cherita. While serving in the military, she attended the University of Maryland, College Europe, and did further studies at Central Carolina Technical College in Sumter. After serving 22 years in the Air Force, she retired and began a career in Civil Service at Shaw Air Force Base. Diane was a member of First United Pentecostal Church and previously attended St. Mark Four Bridges Baptist Church in Dalzell. She volunteered with many organizations including United Ministries, Relay for Life, the American Cancer Society and the First United Pentecostal Church Care Group.

Survivors include her husband, Frederick Welch; two daughters, Keesha Welch and Cherita Welch (Nathaniel) Hardy; five grandchildren, Ariana Welch, Neveah Hardy, Niyelle Hardy, Nyzaiah Hardy and Kenidee Welch; mother-in-law, Barbara Welch; and a host of other relatives, in-laws and friends.
