Sumter School District honors trustees during School Board Appreciation Month

January is School Board Appreciation Month, and last week R.E. Davis College Preparatory Academy hosted Tarah Cousar-Johnson, who represents Sumter School District Area 4 on the board of trustees. Cousar-Johnson toured the school with Principal Anita Hunter and was the guest speaker for an honor roll awards ceremony. The Rev. Ralph Canty, who represents Area 3, was invited to visit Wilder Elementary School in honor of the appreciation week last week and met students in classrooms with Principal David Wright. Shawn Ragin, who represents Area 5, visited Lakewood High School last week and was honored for his service to the district. He was given a framed proclamation for Dr. Shawn Ragin Day, Jan. 25. Sumter Career and Technology Center recognized Bonnie Disney, representing Area 9, for her support of and investment in its students. Brittany English, who represents Area 2, was hosted by Oakland Primary School to tour the school with Principal Joshua Campbell and help cut the ribbon for the school's new Inchy the Bookworm Machine.
