Doretha Ann Alston was born on Aug. 18, 1968, in Sumter, a daughter of Robert Bennett and Nancy and Marion Colclough. She departed this life on Monday, July 27, 2020, at Prisma Health Tuomey Hospital, Sumter.

Doretha was educated in the public schools of Sumter County, graduating from Sumter High School Class of 1987. She later furthered her education at Central Carolina and Strayer University.

Reared in a Christian home, Doretha attended St. Mark United Methodist Church. She was formerly employed by Invista in Lugoff.

She leaves behind to cherish her memories: her husband, Eugene N. Alston; two daughters, Tekila R. Hampton and Aaliyah K. Alston; two sons, Drozane K. Alston of Rembert and Malcolm Williams of Sumter; her parents, Robert Bennett and Nancy and Marion Colclough; seven brothers, Stacy Pringle, John Pringle, Latroy Colclough (Raityna), Ricardo Colclough (Anya) of Sumter, Willie Bennett (Lanetta), Antonio Delay (Lisa) and Darrell Bennett; a mother-in-law, Amelia Alston of Rembert; a brother-in-law, Deacon Donnie Alston (Sallie); two sisters-in-law, Jozlyn Alston and Stephanie Alston; five grandchildren; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

The family is receiving relatives and friends from 1 to 8 p.m. at the home, 177 Armstrong Blvd., Sumter.

Graveside services will be held at 11:30 a.m. Tuesday at St. Stephens Missionary Baptist Church, 1917 Boykin Road, Rembert, with the Rev. Billie E. Bennett officiating.

The procession will leave at 10:40 a.m. from the home.
