Graveside services for Dorothy Ann Howell Williams will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday at High Hills AME Church in Dalzell.

The public may view from 3 to 5 p.m. today at Palmer Memorial Chapel, Sumter.

Dorothy Ann Howell Williams, widow of Thomas Williams, transitioned on Monday, May 17, 2021, in Sumter. Born in Sylva, North Carolina, she was a daughter of the late David George Howell and Janie Mae Norman Howell. She was a graduate of Central Consolidated High School in North Carolina Class of 1955. She resided in Bridgeport, Connecticut, for more than 40 years, where she was employed by the State of Connecticut Highlight and was a union steward in Local 191. Mrs. Williams was a faithful member of Bethel AME Church, Connecticut, and later at High Hills AME Church, Dalzell.

Survivors are a grandchild, Jermaine Williams of Columbia; six great-grandchildren; two sisters, Marcella Howell of Sylva and Laura Scruggs of Franklin, North Carolina; one brother, Harry Howell of Cullowee, North Carolina; and a host of other relatives.
