Funeral services for Dorothy Ann Prioleau will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday at High Hills Missionary Baptist Church, Dalzell, with the Rev. Donald Amis, pastor, and the Rev. Eugene Myers officiating. Interment will follow at High Hills Missionary Baptist Church Cemetery.

There will be a private family viewing and no public viewing.

Dorothy Ann Prioleau transitioned on Sunday, Nov. 18, 2018, in Dalzell.

Born in Sumter County, she was a daughter of Mary S. Prioleau and the late Allen George Prioleau Sr. She was a lifelong member of High Hills Missionary Baptist Church, where she served in the following capacities: vice president of the senior usher board, chairman of church and pastor anniversaries / banquets, secretary of missionary society and youth advisor for the junior ushers. She was also chairman of the Baptist Association, Wateree Lower Division Banquet Committee Member. In her community, she served as president for the Green Springs Neighborhood Association and chaired publicity for their neighborhood newsletter. Dorothy was a graduate of Hillcrest High School Class of 1973. She completed further studies at Sumter Area Technical College, Midlands Technical College and continued her education at the University of South Carolina, studying criminology. She was formerly employed in Washington, D.C., at the USDA, later at the Health Science Library at Emory University, Atlanta, and finally at the University of South Carolina.

Surviving are her mother, Mary S. Prioleau of Dalzell; a brother, Henry L. (Carrie) Prioleau of Rembert; five aunts, Martha Prioleau, Emma Prioleau, Lou Alice Prioleau and Janie Prioleau, all of Dalzell, and Albertha Singleton of New York; three nieces, Shemika (Mark) Weems of Warner Robins, Georgia, Amber Anderson of Columbia and Priya L. Prioleau of Stafford, Virginia; one nephew, Alexander W. Prioleau of Camp Lejeune, North Carolina; and a host of other relatives.
