DOROTHY BATES MARTIN

On Saturday, Jan. 26, 2019, Dorothy "Dot" Bates Martin, widow of Fred Martin Jr., heard her Master's call at Prisma Health Tuomey Hospital.

Born on July 28, 1946, in Summerton, she was a daughter of the late Robert and Janie Allen Bates.

A service celebrating her life will take place at noon on Saturday at Friendship AME Church, 6156 Furse Road, Pinewood, where the Rev. James Stukes, pastor of Shiloh AME Church, Elloree, will preside. The Rev. Dr. Mary H. Rhodes pastor, will bring words of encouragement. The service of committal will follow in the family plot located at Friendship AME Church Cemetery.

Public viewing will take place from 4 to 7 p.m. today at Fleming & DeLaine Chapel, 222 W. Boyce St., Manning.

The family is receiving relatives and friends from 1 to 6 p.m. at the residence of her daughter, Dorshel Martin, 1264 George Conyers Road, Ram Bay community, Manning.
