DOROTHY GEDDINGS BARKLEY

Dorothy Geddings Barkley, 88, widow of Richard Gilbert Barkley Sr., died Saturday, Oct. 26, 2019, at The Gardens at Sumter.

Born in Sumter, she was a daughter of the late John Huggins Geddings and Minnie Margie Barfield. Mrs. Barkley was a devoted member of Bethel Baptist Church, working tirelessly for her Lord in every capacity there.

A most beloved mother, she is survived by two sons, Ricky Barkley (Jennie) and Mike Barkley (Donna), both of Sumter; four daughters, Sandra Hogan (Joey) of Spartanburg, Susan Eleazer (Hal) of Chesnee, Lynn Barkley of Sumter and Beverly Fogner (Steve) of Summerton; two sisters, Florie Bradshaw and Peggy Turner, both of Sumter; one brother, Frank Geddings of Hiawassee, Georgia; 16 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Bethel Baptist Church with the Rev. Larry Fraser officiating. Burial will follow at the church cemetery.

Grandsons will serve as pallbearers.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. today at Elmore Hill McCreight Funeral Home and other times at the home of her son, Mike Barkley, 3545 Cox Road.
