MANNING — Dorothy Knight Barrett, 92, widow of Samuel Barrett, died on Friday, Feb. 22, 2019, at Lake Marion Nursing Facility.
Born on Dec. 19, 1926, in Florence, she was a daughter of the late Jack Robert Knight and Mellie Stone Knight. She was a member of Manning First Baptist Church and the T.E.L. Sunday school class. She was a beloved mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She loved to read, cook and work in her yard. She loved her church and church family.
She is survived by four daughters, Shirley Strickland of North Myrtle Beach, Sandra Hodge (Dudley) and Dianne Spigner (Robbie), both of Manning, and Janet Griffith of Conway; four grandchildren, Melanie McClannan (Rich) of Apollo Beach, Florida, Brian Hodge and Jason Hodge, both of Manning, and Erin Griffith of Conway; four great-grandchildren, Breanna Hodge, Bryson Hodge, Samantha McClannan and Sydney McClannan; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by two sons-in-law, Clarence Strickland and Teddy Griffith; two brothers; and a sister.
A funeral service will be held at 3 p.m. on Sunday at Manning First Baptist Church with the Rev. Dr. Phillip Reynolds officiating. Burial will follow at Clarendon Memorial Gardens.
Pallbearers will be deacons of Manning First Baptist Church.
Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. today at Stephens Funeral Home and other times at the residence, 1136 Seminole Drive, Manning.
