Downtown historic district to host annual Porches of Sumter

Visit the historic district downtown and the neighborhoods surrounding the Patriot Hall area for the annual Porches of Sumter event on Thursday.

Being one of downtown's most anticipated events, Porches of Sumter will feature homes and cooks on the walking self-tour.

Local restaurants and caterers will serve food on porches, in front yards and on patios throughout the downtown historic district, giving participants a chance to see both the dining and living opportunities in Sumter. The lineup will be a mixture of returning favorites and both new cooks and homes never featured before.

Live music will be provided by Tom Ross & Friends.

The event is 6-9 p.m., and check-in will be at Patriot Hall, 135 Haynsworth St. Tickets are $30 in advance and $40 at the door, if available.

A portion of the proceeds will benefit education, workforce development and the cultural arts in Sumter.
