EDNA S. HARRIS

Edna S. Harris's sunrise to earth was on Jan. 14, 1940, to the late Nelson Bishop and Carrie Bell Small. Her sunset to glory was on Wednesday, May 15, 2019, at Prisma Health Tuomey Hospital.

She received her education in the Lee County School System. She was a lifelong member of Gum Spring Baptist Church in Bishopville, where she served faithfully until her health declined.

She was preceded in death by her husband, John Harris; and a son, Edward (Monk) Harris.

She leaveas to cherish her memories; three sons Marion Harris of Kansas City, Missouri, Jerome Harris (the late Beverly Harris) of Sumter and Jeffrey Harris of Columbia; five daughters, Barbara J. Harris, Marie Harris-Harvin (Norris) and Kenya Harris of Sumter, Annette Hamilton of Columbia and a special daughter, Lynn Glover of Lithonia, Georgia; a special nephew and niece, William and Rita Harris of Bishopville; 11 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Thursday at Gum Spring Baptist Church, Bishopville, with Pastor Allen Boykin presiding and the Rev. Alexander Davis delivering the eulogy. Interment will follow at Gum Spring Church Cemetery.

Mrs. Harris will be placed in the church at 1 p.m. for viewing until the hour of service.

The family is receiving friends from 3 to 8:30 p.m. at 708 Warley St, Sumter.

The staff of Sumter Funeral Service Inc. is in charge of arrangements.
