Elizabeth Williams, 88, was born on Oct. 24, 1931, in Bamberg, a daughter of John and Lucey Kearse. With sadness, her family announces her passing on Thursday, July 30, 2020, at Sumter East Health and Rehabilitation Center.

She attended the public schools of Brooklyn, New York, and Sumter County. She was a seamstress, hairdresser and a homemaker. She was a devoted member of Trinity Missionary Baptist Church, until her health failed.

She leaves to cherish her memories: two daughters, Rosetta Williams and Ernestine Jones of the home; one son, Ronald (Lynette) Williams of Charlotte, North Carolina; 12 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; eight nieces; five nephews; a host of other relatives and friends.

Due to COVID-19 guidelines, the family is requesting no visitation at the home.

Public viewing will be held from 2 to 5 p.m. today in the John Wesley Williams Sr. Memorial Chapel of Williams Funeral Home Inc., 821 N. Main St., Sumter.

Private graveside services will be held at noon Thursday at Hillside Memorial Park, 3001 Cain's Mill Road, Sumter.

The procession will leave at 11:20 a.m. from the home.
