EMMA JENKINS PURNELL

Emma "Polly" Jenkins Purnell, 85, departed this earthly life and entered her eternal rest on Thursday, July 4, 2019, at Sumter Health and Rehabilitation Center.

Born on March 16, 1934, she was a daughter of the late Johnnie Herriot and Mamie Jenkins. She received her formal education at Nebo Elementary School in Sumter County. She accepted Christ as her personal Savior and joined Mt. Olive AME Church before she became ill.

She leaves to cherish her memories: one son, Albert A. Jenkins Sr. (Carolyn); one brother, Thomas (Barbara) Jenkins of Bladensburg, Maryland; three grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

The family will receive relatives and friends at the home, 4365 Birch Court, Oakwood Trail, Dalzell.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday at Mt. Olive AME Church, 2738 Woodrow Road, Woodrow, with the Rev. Dr. Friendly J. Gadson, pastor, eulogist.

The remains will be placed in the church at 10 a.m. for viewing until the hour of service.

The funeral procession will leave at 10:20 a.m. from the home.

Burial will be at Colclough Cemetery, Dubose Siding Road, Sumter.
