Funeral services for Emma Prioleau will be held at noon on Saturday at High Hills Missionary Baptist Church, 6750 Meetinghouse Road, Dalzell, with the Rev. Keith R. Mayes as officiant and the Rev. Ruth E. Robinson as eulogist. Interment will follow at High Hills AME Cemetery, Dalzell.

The public may view from 1 to 5 p.m. today at Palmer Memorial Chapel, 304 S. Main St., Sumter.

Emma Prioleau, 81, transitioned on Saturday, Feb. 9, 2019, at National Healthcare in Sumter.

Born in Sumter County, she was the eldest daughter born of the late Samuel Prioleau Sr. and Emma Brown Prioleau. Emma was educated at the Catchall Spann School of Dalzell. She was previously employed by Shaw Air Force Base, Morris College and later retired from the former Sumter School District 2. Emma was a lifelong member of High Hills AME Church, Dalzell. She served faithfully on the usher board and in High Hills AME Women's Missionary Society.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by eight siblings, Allen, Alex Sr., Rosa Lee, Roosevelt, John Henry, Mary, Samuel Jr. and Vermell.

Survivors include three children, Margaret (Jackson) Sanders of Rembert, Robert Lee Prioleau of Dalzell and Patricia (Rudy) Wheeler of Gable; five grandchildren, Derrick, Daryl, Corey, Andrea and Alyssa; eight great-grandchildren; two special nieces, Ioma Prioleau and Joan E. Downing; one special nephew, Tyrone E. Wade; and a host of other relatives.

Palmer Memorial Chapel of Sumter is in charge of arrangements.
