Ernest "Ernie" Wilson Baker III, 47, husband of Celeste Knight Baker, died on Sunday, March 17, 2019, at his home.

Born on Oct. 31, 1971, in Sumter, he was a son of Miriam Green Baker and the late Ernest Wilson Baker Jr. Mr. Baker was a member of First Baptist Church-Sumter, where he served as deacon and was a member of the insurance committee and the choir. He was a graduate of Laurence Manning Academy and the University of South Carolina. He began working in the insurance industry in 2005 and was currently working as an associate with McLean and Marechal Insurance Agency in Florence. He loved his family dearly.

Survivors include his wife of 19 years; his mother of Sumter; and two children, Ashley-Reid Baker and Adam Wilson Baker.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday at First Baptist Church with the Rev. Todd Gray officiating. Burial will be at Evergreen Memorial Park cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Tommy Lee, Jason McCarthy, Clayton Mixon, Russ Harrelson, Matt Wilder and Steve Dean.

Honorary pallbearers will be Eric Kolb, Buddy Noonan, Billy Early, Robert Jones, Brad Beasley, Philip Atkinson, John Baker, Doug DeMaio, Chris Singleton, George Wren, Del Bilton and Pat Sears.

The family will receive friends from 1 to 2 p.m. Friday at First Baptist Church and other times at the home.

Elmore-Cannon-Stephens Funeral Home and Crematorium of Sumter is in charge of the arrangements.
