Ernestine Mack Davis, 57, departed this life on Tuesday, Dec. 22, 2009, at McLeod Hospices Hospital, Florence.

Born March 15, 1952, in Lee County, she was a daughter of the late Deacon Lee Mack Jr. and Lillie Mae Mickens Mack.

She attended the public schools of Lee County and was a 1970 graduate of Dennis High School. She received a certificate as a nursing assistant in 1993 from Camden Vocational School. She was employed by the South Carolina Department of Special Needs and Disabilities in Hartsville until her health declined.

Ernestine accepted Christ as her personal Lord and Savior and was baptized at Mt. Hermon Missionary Baptist Church. She also attended Cousar Memorial Presbyterian Church (USA).

She leaves to cherish her memories her children, Jennifer (Thomas) McCray and Keisha (Contrell) Gilford, both of Bishopville, Joselyn (Anthony) Williams of Charlotte, N.C., Jesmetic Davis of Columbia, Kashawn Davis of Rock Hill, and Keith and Jeffrey Davis, both of Bishopville; eight grandchildren, Karlef, Jalil, Tyler, Jalen, Jamesha, JaMya, Katelyn and Jordan; six sisters, Ruth Chambers and Elma Mack, both of Willingboro, N.J., Rosia (Jimmy) Brown and Beverly Mack, both of Columbia and Lillie (Theodore) Davis and Barbara (Harrison) Williams, both of Bishopville; three brothers, Jimmy (Linda) Mack of Bishopville, Julius (Anna) Mack of Lamar and James Mack of Willingboro, N.J.; six aunts, Earline Mickens, Ella Carter, Anne Turner, Susie Hickmon and Mary Ivory, all of New Jersey, and Whilamenia Dixon of Bishopville; four uncles, Robert Lee Mickens of Philadelphia, Pa., Wardell Mickens and James C. Mickens, both of New Jersey, and John Henry Mickens of Bishopville; 23 nieces and nephews; two grand aunts; two special friends, Evelyn Boone and Daisy Allen; and a host of other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by a sister, Thomasina Mack; a brother, Leroy Mack and a son, Kelvin L. Davis.

Funeral services will be held at noon Tuesday at Mt. Hermon Baptist Church, 222 Woodward St., Bishopville, with the Rev. Rodney B. James, pastor, eulogist.

The family will receive friends at the home of her daughter, Jennifer McCray, 401 Marion St., Bishopville.

The casket will be placed in the church one hour prior to services.

The funeral procession will leave from the home of her daughter at 11:30 a.m.

Classmates of Dennis High School, Class of 1970, will serve as floral bearers.

Nephews and classmates of Dennis High School, Class of 1970 will serve as pallbearers

Burial will be in Thomas Town Cemetery, Bishopville.
