Ervin Hines, 85, husband of Fairey Swann Hines, died on Monday, June 1, 2020, at his home.
Born on Dec. 6, 1934, in Yonkers, New York, he was a son of the late James and Emma Conwell Hines. Mr. Hines was a member of the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses and was a retired upholsterer.
Survivors include his wife of Sumter; two children, Julie Millette Bell (Terry) of Miami, Florida, and Cassie Renee Brownlee (Norman) of Sumter; nine grandchildren, Montero Ward, Peli Woods, Nicholas Bell, Risa Hines, Kateland Carmean, Alicia Murphy, Kevin Bryant Hines Jr., Nolan Brownlee and Charmyn Edwards; six great-grandchildren; two stepchildren, Brian Mercer and Kim Charles; a sister, Gladys Francis; a brother, Melvin Hines; a niece, Sonya Hines-Hall; and a nephew, Leon Johnson.
He was preceded in death by two children, Kevin Bryant Hines and Enid Nadine Hines.
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, a private funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Elmore-Cannon-Stephens Funeral Home chapel.
The family will receive friends at the home.
