EUGENE MCFADDEN

Eugene McFadden departed this earthly life on Wednesday, Sept. 15, 2021, at Prisma Health Richland Hospital in Columbia.

Born on July 27, 1935, in New Zion, he was the eldest of two children born to the late Annie Mae McFadden and Robert S. McFadden. Eugene McFadden was raised in a Christian home and grew up in St. John United Methodist Church in the Shiloh community of Sumter County, and he attended St. John School. In the early 1960's, he moved to Bronx, New York, and worked in Rubin Brother's Marketplace for more than 30 years. He was affiliated with the International Brotherhood of Teamsters, Local Union Number 202. After retirement, he returned to Sumter in 1992 and joined the Jehovah Missionary Baptist Church in October 2012. He was united in marriage to Emma Lee Lemon, and to this union they were blessed with five children.

He leaves to cherish previous memories: two daughters, Sylvia E. McFadden and Hattie A. McFadden (George) Wilson of Florence; four sons, David (Teresa) McFadden of Pensacola, Florida, Ronnie (Angie) McFadden of Temple Hills, Maryland, Elder Wymen (Donna) McFadden of Florence and Eugene (Marsha) McFadden Jr. of Lancaster, California; 18 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; a host of nieces, nephews, other special relatives and friends.

In accordance with COVID-19 guidelines, the family is requesting face masks and social distancing be observed by relatives and friends during visitation at the home of his daughter, 1410 Orange Circle, Florence.

Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday at Hillside Memorial Park, 2561 Cains Mill Road, Sumter, with Bishop Reddgo B. Long Sr. officiating, Elder Wymen McFadden, pastor of Greater Morning Star Apostolic Ministries No. 7, Florence, eulogist.

The procession will leave from Williams Funeral Home Inc., 821 N. Main St., Sumter, at 1:30 p.m.
