EVA L. SUMPTER

Eva L. Sumpter, a longtime resident of Rembert, departed this life on Monday, June 22, 2020, after a long battle with her illness.

Born on April 1, 1936, in Sumter, she was a daughter of the late James and Frances Skinner. She attended the public schools of Sumter County. Eva was married to the late James Sumpter. As a young woman, she lived in Washington, D.C., but later moved back home to take care of her ailing mother. Upon returning home, she joined and faithfully attended Pine Grove AME Church. She retired from Kendall Manufacturing. Eva enjoyed spending time with her family and living life to the fullest.

Eva is survived by her brothers, James (Jean) Gamble, Robert Floyd and Cesar (Ruby) Floyd; her nephew, Terrence Gamble; niece, Jamie Gamble; and a host of other relatives, friends and loved ones.

The family is receiving relatives and friends at the home, 145 Lewis Circle, Rembert.

Graveside services will be held at 1 p.m. on Friday at Pine Grove AME Church, 41 Pine Grove Road, Rembert, with the Rev. Lorenzo Dinkins officiating.

The procession will leave at 12:20 p.m. from the home.
