Fishing tourneys abundant on Lakes Marion, Moultrie from September through October

CLARENDON COUNTY - The Santee Cooper lakes are known as the mecca of fishing to professional and amateur anglers not only in Clarendon County but throughout the state, Southeast and the entire nation.

From Sept. 23 through Dec. 2, nine events have been planned for Lakes Marion and Moultrie. All the events will be held out of the John C. Land, III Sports Fishing Facility, 4404 Greenall Road, Summerton. Each event is coordinated through the Clarendon County Chamber of Commerce.

On Sept. 23, Carolina Anglers Team Trail will fish the popular lakes with a weigh-in scheduled for 3 p.m. The Carolina Anglers Team Trail will return on Oct. 21, Nov. 18 and Dec. 2.

On Sept. 30, the Duckfest Fall Open fishing tournament will be held on Lakes Marion and Moultrie. This event is part of the annual Duckfest. In addition to the fishing tournament, John C. Land III Sports Fishing Facility will also be the site of the Duckfest Car Show that will begin at 1 p.m. Food trucks will be present along with entertainment.

On Oct. 7, the Queen City Kayak Bass Fishing tournament will be held on the lakes with the awards presentation held at 4 p.m. at the Clarendon County Community Complex, located behind Weldon Auditorium.

On Oct. 27 and 28, the Carolina Bass Challenge Division Classic will be held with weigh-ins both days at 3 p.m.

The Bass Federation tournament will be held on Nov. 4, followed by the South Carolina High School Bass Challenge on Nov. 11.
