NEW YORK, N.Y. - Funeral services for Fleet Cooper Jr. will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday at Goodwill Presbyterian Church, 295 N. Brick Church Road, Mayesville. Interment will follow at Goodwill Church Cemetery.

A public viewing will be held from 1 to 6 p.m. today at the mortuary.

Fleet was born on Dec. 30, 1942, in Wilmington, North Carolina, to the late Fleet and Edith Monroe Cooper.

In addition to his parents, Fleet was preceded in death by his wife, Marian Crockett Cooper; brother, Jeremiah Cooper; and a sister, Agnes Fortune Cooper.

Fleet departed this life on Tuesday, Oct. 30, 2018, at Mt. Sinai St. Luke's Roosevelt Hospital in New York.

He leaves to cherish his memory: three sons, Barron Williamson, LeShawn (Caressa) Cooper and Fleet Demetrius Cooper; two daughters, Veronica and LaShonna Cooper; six grandchildren, Coree, Sharif, Jabron, Kesean, Chelsea and Kayden; one great-grandson, Izaiah; three sisters, Gwendolyn Jefferson, Gertrude (James) Perry and Mary Cooper; a goddaughter, Sharon James; a devoted companion, Tanya Richards; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

The family is receiving friends at the home of his sister, Gwendolyn Jefferson, 249 Poulas St., Sumter.
