NEW ZION — A 58-year-old Fort Mill man died in a two-vehicle crash on Black River Road about 4 a.m. on Monday, according to Clarendon County Coroner Bucky Mock.
“Calvin Stinson died at the scene from multiple blunt force trauma,” Mock said. “The Clarendon County Fire Department, the Clarendon County Sheriff’s Office and Clarendon EMS assisted at the scene.”
Master Trooper David Jones with the South Carolina Highway Patrol said the early morning wreck occurred on S.C. 527 near the intersection of Old Manning Road. Jones said Stinson was driving a 2018 Mitsubishi Mirage northbound on S.C. 527 when a 2001 Toyota Sequoia that was traveling southbound on S.C. 527 crossed the center line and struck Stinson’s vehicle head on in the northbound lanes of the highway.
Jones said that Stinson and the driver of the Toyota were wearing seatbelts, and the driver of the Toyota was not injured.
“The accident remains under investigation,” Jones added.
