Frank Maurice Laney, 63, widower of Laura Simpson Laney, departed and received his wings on Saturday, April 20, 2019, in Dalzell.
Born in Alexandria Bay, New York, he was a son of the late Carl West Laney and Dorothy Marie Joyner Laney. Mr. Laney was a member of First Baptist Church in Cheraw. He was a 1974 graduate of Hillcrest High School and was employed by the Town of Cheraw Parks and Grounds.
Surviving are one son, Carl M. Laney of Sumter; his longtime companion, Annanell Freeman of Cheraw; one brother, Jack W. Laney of Ridgeland; two sisters, Cindy Thornhill of Sumter and Tammy Laney Steele of Sevierville, Tennessee; his two special dogs who cherished him dearly, Sandy and Spud; along with many other dogs, four cats and a number of nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Roxanne Laney, and a brother, Robert E. Laney.
Memorial services will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday in the chapel of Elmore Hill McCreight Funeral Home.
The family will receive friends from 1 to 2 p.m. Saturday at Elmore Hill McCreight Funeral Home.
